People with Migration Background Visit Roth Firm - Open VOICE Project Shows Diverse Professions and Training Opportunities

More than 40 people with refugee and migration backgrounds recently toured Roth Industries in Dautphetal-Buchenau. The visit was part of the Open VOICE project, which connects job seekers with local employers. Participants explored career options and learned about vocational training at the company.

Roth Industries, a family-owned business in building and industrial technology, hosted the group. With around 1,400 employees worldwide, the company produces over 40 million metres of surface heating pipes each year—enough to wrap around the Earth. During the tour, visitors saw the wide range of career fields available, from technical roles to office-based apprenticeships.

Two young men currently training as industrial clerks at Roth shared their positive experiences. They highlighted the support and practical skills gained through their apprenticeships. The company offers over 20 training spots annually across eight different occupations, though most require at least a B2 level of German. The Open VOICE initiative is coordinated by Lydia Koblofsky of the Marburg-Biedenkopf District’s Integration Office. Partners include the district’s Job Center and the refugee advisory network *BLEIB!dabei!*. The project aims to help participants secure internships, apprenticeships, or long-term jobs by introducing them directly to businesses. In-house language courses and tandem programmes could also assist migrants in completing their training. The tour also included a visit to the theatre operations in Marburg. Both locations provided insights into local career opportunities and the skills needed for different roles.

The event gave participants a clearer understanding of vocational training and employment paths in the region. By connecting directly with employers like Roth Industries, they gained practical knowledge about available opportunities. Future Open VOICE tours will continue to support career orientation for people with migration backgrounds.
