Petra Pau Honored for Decades of Community and Pandemic Support
Petra Pau, a long-serving German politician from The Left party, has been honoured by the THW Berlin, Brandenburg, Sachsen-Anhalt and the DRK Berlin for her exceptional political engagement and dedication. The awards recognised her tireless work during the pandemic and her ongoing support for the community.
Pau, a former Vice President of the German Bundestag, received the 'Gold Performance Badge' from the DRK Berlin State Association and the 'President’s Honorary Award' from the THW at a ceremony in the tower foyer of the Senate Department for the Interior and Sports. The awards highlighted her decades of commitment to civil protection and her steadfast support for volunteer work.
Mario Czaja, President of the DRK Berlin State Association, praised Pau's involvement in supporting people during the pandemic and at the soup kitchen in Marzahn. Sebastian Gold, head of THW-Connect, commended her for fostering connections between people, stating that she 'does not divide—she listens, takes time for everyone and every concern'. Pau has been actively involved in Berlin DRK initiatives, such as the soup kitchen and donation drives, for many years.
Petra Pau's dedication to her community and her advocacy for volunteer helpers have been recognised by the THW and the DRK. Her awards serve as a testament to her long-standing social commitment and her impact on the lives of many people in Berlin and beyond.
