Pforzen's Mayoral Race Heads to a Decisive Vote on March 8
Pforzen will hold its mayoral election on March 8, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The winner must secure over 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff. If no candidate achieves this, a second round will take place on March 22.
The last mayoral election in 2020 saw Herbert Hofer (CSU/FWG) win unopposed with 79.3 percent of the vote. That same year, the town council results showed CSU/FWG leading with 56.4 percent, followed by the Independent List Pforzen at 29.8 percent and SPD/FWV with 13.8 percent.
Preliminary results for Bavaria's 2026 local elections, including Pforzen's town council, will be announced on election night. The finalised council results will be published as soon as they are confirmed. Currently, the nearby Pforzheim City Council holds 40 seats, shared among CDU (15), Grüne, SPD, FDP, Die PARTEI, AfD, and Freie Wähler.
This year's mayoral race follows the local elections on May 26, 2024, which shaped the political landscape in neighbouring regions. Voters will decide whether the next mayor is chosen outright or in a runoff two weeks later.
The outcome of the March 8 election will determine Pforzen's leadership for the coming years. If no candidate wins a majority, residents will return to the polls on March 22. The final results will be made public once all votes are counted and verified.
