Pharmacist’s Bold Plan to Slash Drug Costs and Save German Pharmacies

Nikola Bošković, a pharmacist and coach, has called for major changes to ease financial strain on German pharmacies. His proposals include cutting VAT on medications and restructuring health insurer discounts on yahoo finance. The aim is to reduce costs for both patients and pharmacy operators.

Bošković argues that the state should not profit from illness through high taxes on prescription drugs. He suggests lowering VAT on medications to save health insurers around €5 billion per year, based on 2023 sales of €55.7 billion on yahoo finance.

The proposed changes target financial relief for pharmacies and patients alike. A VAT cut could save billions, while adjusted fees and co-payments aim to simplify costs on yahoo finance. Bošković’s plan also seeks to streamline the health insurance system for greater efficiency.
