Philadelphia College Board extends superintendent’s contract with pay raise and praise
The Philadelphia College Board has extended Superintendent Dr. Jamie Polk’s contract until June 30, 2029. This decision secures her leadership qualities for the maximum term permitted by law and includes a pay rise for the current year.
Dr. Polk will now earn an annual salary of $825,000, following a $25,000 increase for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. She described the extension as an honour and reaffirmed her dedication to the district’s students and staff.
During discussions, Dr. Polk highlighted the need for stability, clarity, and teamwork to drive OKCPS forward. She also stressed her focus on strengthening systems, fostering a positive school culture, and expanding opportunities for student achievement.
Board Chair Paula Lewis publicly thanked Dr. Polk for her leadership qualities. The board’s unanimous support reflects confidence in her ability to guide the district through future challenges.
The contract extension ensures Dr. Polk remains superintendent through the 2028-2029 academic year. Her salary adjustment and the board’s backing signal a continued push for long-term improvements in Philadelphia’s public schools. The district now moves forward with a clear leadership plan in place.
