Philip Cohen Steps Down as Winterthur's Infrastructure Division Head
Philip Cohen, who has led the Infrastructure Division within Winterthur's Department of Education and Sports since April 2022, will step down from his position on February 28, 2026. The City Council has expressed its gratitude for his valuable contributions and dedicated service.
Cohen's departure comes after he played a crucial role in drafting the School Real Estate Strategy 2025, which was adopted by the City Council in June. The strategy highlights the strategic importance of school facilities, education-specific IT and communications resources, teaching materials, and furnishings for Winterthur.
The Infrastructure Division, which Cohen has headed, employs 450 people and oversees vital sections such as School Buildings, Custodial Services, SCHU-COM, and Procurement and Logistics. The division was established following organizational changes in August 2024.
Cohen's decision to leave his position is driven by his desire to take on a new challenge. The succession process for his role is already underway, with the city administration currently searching for a replacement. Cohen's successor has not yet been named publicly.
