Philippine Army spreads holiday joy in Basilan’s remote village

Soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 32nd Infantry Battalion (32IB) recently brought festive cheer to residents of Basilan province. The Alpha Company organised a Christmas outreach in Pamatsaken village, Sumisip, aiming to support local households and build stronger ties with the community.

The outreach activity took place under the leadership of Captain Jan Bert Madlangbayan, commander of Alpha Company. His team distributed Christmas goods to 89 households in the village, providing much-needed supplies ahead of the holidays.

The initiative was part of the 32IB’s ongoing efforts to engage with civilians and promote civil-military cooperation. By sharing gifts and spending time with residents, the soldiers demonstrated care and solidarity. The event also sought to boost morale among villagers while reinforcing trust between the army and local communities.

The outreach in Pamatsaken village benefited nearly 90 families with essential and festive items. Such efforts help strengthen bonds between soldiers and civilians in Basilan. The 32IB continues to prioritise community engagement as part of its broader mission in the region.
