Beverley Bass, a world-renowned pioneering pilot, has had a remarkable 32-year career in aviation. Born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida, Bass started her flying lessons at Meacham Airport in Texas.
After graduating from high school in 1970 and obtaining her bachelor's degree in 1974, Bass began her flying career with American Airlines at the age of 24. She piloted various aircraft models including B-727, MD 80, DC 10, B757, B767, and B-777.
A significant milestone in Bass's career was becoming the first female captain at American Airlines in 1986. This achievement was a testament to her dedication and skill as a pilot.
Bass's career reached new heights during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. She was the captain of a flight that landed at Gander International Airport in Newfoundland, Canada, as part of Operation Yellow Ribbon.
