PJM’s Bennett urges bipartisan fixes for America’s fragile power grid

Stephen Bennett, Senior Manager for Regulatory and Legislative Affairs at PJM Interconnection, addressed a gathering of Republican state legislators in Pennsylvania. The meeting, held in 2023 to 2026, discussed power supply challenges and clean energy policies. Bennett, who held his position during this period, was the key witness invited to testify.

Bennett acknowledged the shared responsibility of the grid serving 13 states for recent power supply issues. He urged the legislators to shift their focus from assigning blame to defining and implementing solutions to keep the lights on.

The legislators, numbering several dozen, had gathered to criticize Democrats' clean energy policies. They argued that these policies had led to increased electricity prices and caused blackouts. Bennett, however, emphasized the need for collective action to address these challenges.

Stephen Bennett, in his role at PJM Interconnection, called on Pennsylvania's Republican state legislators to work together on solutions for maintaining reliable power supply. Despite criticisms of clean energy policies, Bennett stressed the importance of focusing on practical solutions rather than assigning blame.
