Plane lands at Krasnodar Airport for the first time since 2022
Krasnodar Airport, situated in southern Russia, restarted operations on September 11 after a three-year pause. The airport hadn't welcomed civilian aircraft since late February 2022.
Following a thorough review of security concerns, the Ministry of Transport's press service decided to reopen the airport. Aeroflot, Russia's national carrier, will lead the way in resuming flights to Krasnodar, with services set to commence from Kazan and Novosibirsk on September 28, 2025.
In addition to Aeroflot, other airlines like Ural Airlines, S7 Airlines, Victory, and Azimuth will also start operating flights to Krasnodar.
The initial flight from Sheremetyevo Airport to Krasnodar, operated by Aeroflot, was fully booked, according to the airline's press service. The aircraft departed at 06:55 Moscow time and arrived in Krasnodar at 10:16 Moscow time, with a flight duration of 3 hours and 35 minutes.
Currently, Krasnodar Airport operates from 09:00 to 19:00 Moscow time. However, Dmitry Kirichenko, the airport's managing director, reported via TASS that it aims to switch to 24/7 service next year.
The resumption of flights to Krasnodar is anticipated to boost opportunities for locals and businesses in the region, as well as make holidays on the Azov and Black Sea coasts more accessible, as per Rosaviatsiya. By the end of the month, Aeroflot plans to restore international flights from Krasnodar to Yerevan, Istanbul, and Dubai (Al-Maktoum Airport).
From September 19, Aeroflot plans to operate direct flights to Krasnodar from Saint Petersburg. Additionally, from September 27, Aeroflot plans to operate direct flights to Krasnodar from Ekaterinburg, Ufa, and Krasnoyarsk.
The Ministry of Transport underscored that the airport maintained a high level of readiness during the hiatus, ensuring a smooth return to operations.
