PM Modi to lead India’s top cops at 60th security summit in Raipur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 60th All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police on 29-30 November. The event takes place at the Indian Institute of Management in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Top security officials will gather to discuss pressing challenges in law enforcement and national safety.

The annual conference has been held at different locations since 2014, including Guwahati, the Rann of Kutch, Hyderabad, and New Delhi. This year's edition marks the 60th session, returning to Raipur after the 2021 conference.

Key topics on the agenda include left-wing extremism, counter-terrorism, disaster management, and women's safety. Discussions will also focus on the role of forensic science and artificial intelligence in modern policing. The aim is to review progress on existing challenges while shaping a roadmap for a 'Surakshit Bharat' (Secure India), in line with the broader vision of 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).

Prime Minister Modi will present the President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service during the event. He has previously emphasised open dialogue and innovative thinking in these conferences. Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and other senior officials will also participate.

The sessions will cover operational hurdles, infrastructure needs, and welfare concerns for police forces. Best practices in crime prevention and law enforcement will be shared among state and central police leaders.

The conference brings together top policymakers and law enforcement heads to address critical security issues. Decisions and strategies emerging from the discussions will guide future policing efforts across the country. The event underscores the government’s focus on strengthening internal security and modernising police operations.
