PM Modi Visits INS Vikrant, Praises India's Defence Innovation
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited INS Vikrant, the country's first homegrown aircraft carrier, hailing it as a symbol of 21st-century innovation and self-reliance in defence manufacturing. Modi also celebrated Deepawali aboard the vessel, honouring a tradition of spending the festival with the armed forces.
The Prime Minister's visit paid tribute to the armed forces and underscored India's commitment to self-reliance in defence production. INS Vikrant, a 'shining testament' to Indian innovation, was praised by Modi for its advanced features and capabilities. The carrier, built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, is set to bolster the Indian Navy's blue-water capabilities.
Modi also recalled Operation Sindoor, highlighting the exceptional tri-service coordination displayed during the mission. The operation, conducted in 2019, demonstrated the Indian military's ability to work together effectively in complex scenarios.
During his visit, Modi also acknowledged Dr. Murchana Khusroo's research project, 'SOLEX', linked to India's first solar mission Aditya-L1. The project, led by Dr. Khusroo from Northeast India, focuses on solar x-ray spectrometry. Modi's visit to INS Vikrant reaffirmed India's commitment to technological advancements and self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
