Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính visited Military Region 5, directing improvements in combat readiness and presenting the prestigious Hồ Chí Minh Order. The region, strategically vital to national defence, has a rich history and significant contributions to Vietnam's resistance wars and peacekeeping efforts.
Military Region 5, established from the Ba Tơ guerrilla unit during the Japanese resistance, has played a crucial role in Vietnam's history. It fought against French and American forces, and post-reunification, it shifted to peacetime duties, supporting socio-economic development.
The region's 80-year history of construction and combat was recognised with the Hồ Chí Minh Order, Vietnam's highest decoration. This honour comes after it fulfilled international obligations by aiding Cambodia and Laos. Prime Minister Chính directed the region to enhance training, drills, and modernise its equipment, calling on it to uphold its traditions and stay prepared for any situation.
Military Region 5, with its illustrious past and strategic location, continues to be a vital pillar of Vietnam's defence and security. The region, which has produced many heroic units and renowned commanders, stands ready to face future challenges, guided by the leadership of Prime Minister Chính.
