Pokrovka–Jiaohe border crossing closes for China's Lunar New Year festivities

The Pokrovka–Jiaohe border crossing between Russia's Khabarovsk Territory and China will shut down for four days. The temporary closure comes as China prepares for its Lunar New Year celebrations in late February.

The crossing will remain closed from February 16 to February 19. This suspension aligns with the start of China's Spring Festival, which officially runs from February 17 to March 2. No other Russia-China border points have announced similar closures for the holiday period.

While seasonal restrictions often apply during major festivals, authorities have not detailed additional closures or reduced operating hours. The Pokrovka–Jiaohe route is the only confirmed crossing facing a full shutdown during this time.

Travellers and traders relying on this route must plan for the four-day interruption. The crossing is set to reopen on February 20, once the initial phase of Lunar New Year festivities concludes. No further disruptions have been reported for other border checkpoints.
