Poland Honors Revolutionary Konstanty Kalinowski in Emotional Ceremony
A ceremony in Mostowlany, Poland, honoured the legacy of 19th-century revolutionary Konstanty Kalinowski. Around 100 people gathered at his birthplace to mark the occasion. The event included the unveiling of commemorative plaques at the former Kalinowski family estate.
The ceremony began with speeches from local officials and dignitaries. Elżbieta Rosińska, deputy mayor of Michałowo municipality, addressed the crowd, followed by Henryk Suchocki of the Białystok County Administration. Suchocki reminded attendees that Kalinowski’s remains had been reburied in Vilnius on 22 November 2019, in a joint ceremony by Polish and Lithuanian representatives.
The event brought together community members, officials, and descendants to remember Kalinowski’s role in history. The plaques at his family estate ensure his legacy remains visible in the region. The reburial in Vilnius and this ceremony highlight ongoing efforts to preserve his memory.
