A police car collided with a Mercedes in Berlin’s Biesdorf district yesterday afternoon. The crash, now under investigation, involved an elderly driver and two officers on emergency duty. Both parties sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The accident took place at the intersection of Cecilienstraße and Blumberger Damm. A police car was driving with flashing lights and sirens activated when it struck a Mercedes driven by an 82-year-old man.
The elderly driver and his 75-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The two officers in the police car were also treated for light injuries before being released from duty. The driver of the police car remained unharmed.
A specialised traffic accident unit from Polizeidirektion 3 has been examining the cause of the crash since Sunday morning. The name of the officer involved has not been disclosed in official reports.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision. The elderly driver, his passenger, and the two officers all received medical attention but did not suffer serious harm. The probe will determine how the accident occurred at the busy Biesdorf intersection.
