Polish Activist Honored for Strengthening Town Bonds Between Egelsbach and Chojnów
Elżbieta Klapcińska has become the first person to receive honorary citizenship in Egelsbach. The honour was presented by Mayor Tobias Wilbrand and Municipal Council Chairman Jörg Strobel on May 16, 2024. The ceremony took place during a formal session of the municipal council.
Klapcińska, originally from Chojnów (Haynau), has played a key role in strengthening ties between the two towns. Chojnów is Egelsbach’s official twin town in Poland. Her work began in June 2005 when she founded the Chojnów Association for Town Partnerships, which she still leads today.
The honorary title was officially conferred during the council session. Klapcińska’s contributions have left a lasting impact on relations between Egelsbach and Chojnów. Her work continues to encourage cooperation and mutual respect between the two towns.
