Political leader gunned down at Dhaka hardware store in broad daylight
A local political leader was shot dead in Dhaka on Monday evening. Golam Kibria, member secretary of the Pallabi unit of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, died after three armed men opened fire at an ace hardware store in the capital. Police have since arrested one suspect and launched a manhunt for two others still at large.
The attack took place in broad daylight at an ace hardware store in Pallabi. CCTV footage captured three masked assailants, all wearing helmets, firing seven shots at Kibria from close range. Witnesses described the attackers fleeing immediately after the shooting.
The investigation into Kibria’s murder remains ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward. One arrest has been made, but the search for the remaining suspects continues. Meanwhile, the frequency of such attacks has raised concerns about public safety in the city.
