Portugal's Football Boss Proposes Pyrotechnics Ban to Attract More Fans
Reinaldo Teixeira, the president of Portugal's Professional Football League (LPFP), has proposed a ban on pyrotechnics in stadiums. The move aims to attract more fans and investors, and promote a more respectful atmosphere.
Teixeira believes that the absence of pyrotechnics will enhance the competition and the sport itself. He wants to see a similar empathetic attitude towards referees, encouraging fans to support their teams while respecting winners and losers. Around 65% of fines paid by league clubs are due to poor fan behavior, including the use of pyrotechnics. Teixeira aims to collaborate with security forces to implement this ban. He views football as a moment of entertainment between players and fans, and praises the change in behavior in the tunnel over the last three decades, attributing it to the PSP and GNR.
Reinaldo Teixeira's proposal to ban pyrotechnics in stadiums seeks to improve the fan experience and attract more investors. If successful, it could lead to a more respectful and enjoyable atmosphere for all involved in the game.
