Pramod Boro Accepts BPF Mandate, Calls for Dialogue After UPPL Defeat
Pramod Boro, former CEM of BTC and president of UPPL, has accepted the mandate for the Hagrama Mohilary-led BPF government in BTC. Boro stated that UPPL will take necessary introspection and correction measures after its defeat in the elections. He called for peaceful solutions to problems through dialogue and discussion.
Boro, who is closely associated with UPPL, a regional political party supported mainly by the Bodo community, led the party in the recent elections. Despite the defeat, UPPL has a significant presence in 40 BTC constituencies and 445 primary committees. The party also has 7 MCLAs, 7 MLAs, and 2 MPs, indicating its substantial role in the 2026 assembly elections.
Boro condemned the recent bomb blast at the railway track in Kokrajhar and Salakati, stating that violence is not a solution to problems. He urged all parties to resolve issues through peaceful means.
Pramod Boro, though defeated, remains a prominent political figure in Bodoland. UPPL, with its strong presence and significant representation, is expected to continue playing a crucial role in the region's politics. Boro's acceptance of the mandate for the BPF government and his call for peaceful dialogue indicate his commitment to democratic processes.
