Rainbow Returns Part of Camping Ground to the Land - Prerow’s Dunes Campsite to Return to Nature by Mid-November
Rainbow AG has announced plans to clear a section of the dunes campsite in Prerow by mid-November, returning it to its natural state. This move comes amidst ongoing legal battles and negotiations for a new operator.
The company will remove only non-essential items, ensuring minimal environmental impact. This action follows a long-standing dispute with the state, involving multiple hearings and eviction orders. Meanwhile, the Foundation for Environment and Nature Conservation MV, also known as the 'Stiftung Naturlandschaften Mecklenburg-Vorpommern,' has neared an agreement with Ahoi Camp Prerow GmbH to take over the campsite's operation. The contract was likely finalized in September 2023.
Environment Minister Till Backhaus (SPD) has welcomed Rainbow AG's decision, stressing the importance of an amicable solution for long-term campers, local businesses, and municipalities. After handing over the land, Rainbow AG will continue to focus on ongoing legal disputes.
By mid-November, a portion of the dunes campsite in Prerow will be restored to its natural state. The 'Stiftung Naturlandschaften Mecklenburg-Vorpommern' will soon take over its operation, following a contract signed with Ahoi Camp Prerow GmbH. Minister Backhaus applauds this progress, hoping it will benefit all parties involved.
