Prosecutor's Office Blocks 389 Million Tenge Sports Complex Purchase Over Cost Concerns

Questionable Deal Could Have Led to Unjustified Spending

A district budget commission approved the allocation of 389 million tenge for the purchase of a sports complex.

However, oversight authorities noted that the facility, slated for acquisition by the akimat (local administration), was in a state of disrepair.

As a result, additional funding from the budget would have been required for repairs after purchase, effectively doubling the costs.

Thus, the implementation of this project would have violated the principles of rational planning and efficient use of public funds.

Following a prosecutor's review, the decision was overturned, preventing the unjustified expenditure of budgetary resources.

The oversight body emphasized that compliance with budgetary legislation remains under strict scrutiny.
