Protesters storm Rheinmetall HQ in Berlin over Middle East conflict
Four activists climbed onto the roof of a Rheinmetall defence contractor building in Berlin's Gesundbrunnen district early on Thursday. Police were alerted around 6:15 a.m. and quickly sent around 20 officers to the scene.
The group unfurled banners linked to the Middle East conflict and poured paint on the building's facade. Despite the disruption, the situation stayed calm, according to a police spokesperson.
Specialised high-angle rescue teams were later called in to bring the protesters down safely. The operation took place without further incident. No official records confirm how many similar protests against arms companies have occurred in Germany over the past year.
The activists were removed from the roof without confrontation. Authorities have not yet released details on potential charges or further action. The building sustained visible damage from the paint poured during the protest.
