Public meetings to shape the future of Jersey War Tunnels this week

Two public meetings will take place this week to discuss future plans for Jersey War Tunnels. The sessions will focus on feasibility proposals for new developments at the historic site. Residents and visitors are invited to share their views on the suggested changes.

The meetings will be held at the Visitor Centre Café, Les Charrières Malorey, St Lawrence, on Monday 2 March and Tuesday 3 March. Both sessions run from 6pm to 7.30pm, with no need to book in advance. Attendees can arrive at any time during the scheduled hours.

One key proposal includes a new exhibition space within the main car park. This extension to the existing Visitor Centre would allow the display of historically significant artefacts currently stored away due to environmental concerns. The aim is to ensure their long-term preservation while making them accessible to the public.

The plans also involve reconfiguring the current car parking areas. The changes would improve pedestrian safety and make vehicle access smoother across the site. Representatives from Jersey War Tunnels and the design team will be on hand to explain the proposals and answer questions.

Display materials will be available for attendees to review, and comments will be collected to help shape the final design.

The consultation sessions provide an opportunity for the community to influence the future of Jersey War Tunnels. Feedback gathered during the meetings will directly inform the development of the proposed exhibition space and site improvements. The final plans will reflect input from those who attend.
