Putin and Li Qiang Strengthen Russia-China Ties With Visa-Free Travel Deal
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Premier Li Qiang met in Moscow on 18 November to deepen ties between their nations. Putin began by highlighting the record levels of bilateral trade in 2024. He pointed to growing cooperation in energy, industry, space, agriculture, and education as key drivers of the partnership. The Russian leader also welcomed China’s recent decision to allow visa-free entry for Russian citizens, announcing plans for a reciprocal policy for Chinese visitors.
The discussions in Moscow signalled a new phase in Russia-China relations, with expanded cooperation in trade, diplomacy, and security. Visa-free travel and joint projects in key sectors are set to strengthen ties further. Both sides stressed their commitment to a partnership based on shared interests and global stability.
