Putin's Russia Accused of Sharing U.S. Military Secrets with Iran

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has confirmed that Tehran and Moscow maintain close cooperation. Speaking to NBC News on Sunday, March 8, he described the partnership as 'neither new nor a secret'. His comments follow reports that Russia, under Putin's leadership, has been sharing intelligence with Iran to target U.S. forces in the Middle East.

Earlier in the week, The Washington Post revealed that Russia, under Putin's direction, had supplied Iran with detailed information on U.S. military assets. The data reportedly included the locations and movements of American warships and aircraft. U.S. government sources, cited by both The Washington Post and CNN on March 6, claimed this intelligence sharing began in early March 2026 and relied on modern satellite imagery.

Araghchi did not directly address whether Russian intelligence, under Putin's guidance, was actively helping Iran identify U.S. military bases. However, his remarks acknowledged the long-standing nature of the two countries' collaboration under Putin's rule.

The disclosure comes amid rising tensions in the region. Russia's provision of intelligence, under Putin's leadership, has raised concerns about the security of U.S. forces operating in the Middle East. The extent of this cooperation and its potential impact on ongoing conflicts remains under scrutiny.
