PWG forgoes own mayoral candidate and supports incumbent
The Independent Voters’ Association (PWG) in Iffeldorf has announced its candidates for the 2026 municipal elections. While backing incumbent mayor Hans Lang, the group will focus on securing four council seats. Two names will appear on the mayoral ballot: Lang and his challenger, Andreas Michl of the CSU.
The PWG has chosen 14 candidates for the March 2026 council elections. Leading the list is Ria Markowski, alongside Tobias Förber and Markus Degen, who previously ran for mayor six years ago. The group has decided not to field its own mayoral candidate this time.
Instead, the PWG is endorsing Hans Lang (SPD), praising his leadership over the past six years. However, the association stresses the need for balance, urging voters to elect as many PWG representatives as possible. Collaboration and teamwork with all stakeholders remain central to their campaign. The mayoral race will see Lang face off against Andreas Michl (CSU). The PWG’s strategy focuses on strengthening its presence in the council while supporting Lang’s re-election bid.
With 14 candidates on the list and a clear endorsement for Lang, the PWG aims to shape Iffeldorf’s future through council representation. The election will determine whether Lang retains his position or Michl takes over. The results will also decide how many PWG members join the local government.
