Qatar Museums Marks 15 Years with Two Powerful Exhibitions at Mathaf
Qatar Museums has launched two exhibitions at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art to celebrate its 15th anniversary. The exhibitions, 'Resolutions: Celebrating 15 Years of Mathaf' and 'we refuse_d', offer fresh perspectives on the museum's permanent collection and showcase contemporary Arab art.
The 'Resolutions' exhibition traces the evolution of Arab modernism, providing a renewed perspective on Mathaf's permanent collection. It explores how art has changed and developed over the past 15 years, reflecting the cultural progress of Qatar.
'we refuse_d', on the other hand, features works by over 15 contemporary Arab artists. The exhibition delves into themes of resistance, care, and resilience, offering a powerful exploration of the human spirit. Despite the lack of specific artist information, the exhibition promises a compelling narrative.
Both exhibitions were inaugurated by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums. They are part of Qatar's Evolution Nation campaign, curated by Qatar Creates, which positions Qatar as a global hub for art, culture, and creativity.
The exhibitions 'Resolutions: Celebrating 15 Years of Mathaf' and 'we refuse_d' are now open at Mathaf, offering visitors a chance to reflect on the past, engage with contemporary art, and celebrate Qatar's cultural journey.
