Rapper Haftbefehl Drops by Özdemir's 60th Birthday - Rapper Haftbefehl Drops by Özdemir's 60th Birthday
German rapper Haftbefehl, born Aykut Anhan, recently attended Green Party leader Cem Özdemir’s 60th birthday celebration. The two met through a mutual friend, sparking a conversation about Haftbefehl’s life and struggles. Özdemir later praised the rapper’s quiet strength and humility after watching a documentary about his journey.
Haftbefehl, widely regarded as the biggest name in German rap, has deep roots in Frankfurt’s gangsta-rap scene. In November 2025, he announced he was sober and no longer using drugs. This followed the October 2025 release of Babo – The Haftbefehl Story, a Netflix documentary exploring his life, addiction, and trauma.
The film left a strong impression on Özdemir, who highlighted its honest portrayal of addiction’s connection to personal struggles. A photo of the two together, shared on Instagram by FDP politician Murat Kalmis, showed their meeting at the birthday event.
After a temporary stay in Dubai, Haftbefehl and his wife Nina returned to Germany. Their children now attend school there, and the family lives close to grandparents. Despite his global success, the rapper remains closely tied to Frankfurt, where his career began.
Özdemir, meanwhile, is campaigning as the Green Party’s top candidate for Baden-Württemberg’s state election on March 8, 2026.
Haftbefehl’s return to Germany marks a new chapter after his public battle with addiction. His meeting with Özdemir and the documentary’s impact have brought renewed attention to his story. The rapper continues to balance family life with his enduring influence in German music.
