Rare 19th-Century *Divani Hikmet* Manuscript Unearthed in Turkestan’s Sauran District
A rare 19th-century manuscript of Divani Hikmet has been uncovered in Turkestan’s Sauran District. The 1834 text, containing previously unknown aphorisms, was handed over to the Azret Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. Experts call it the oldest known copy of the work in the country. The discovery began when Erkin Saparov received the manuscript from Alimzhan Ramazanuly. Recognising its historical value, Saparov promptly delivered it to the museum. Researchers confirmed its age and authenticity, dating it to 1834. The 1834 manuscript will remain in the Azret Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. Its 39 newly discovered aphorisms provide fresh insights into Yesevi’s art and culture. The centre’s archives continue to grow as a key resource for scholars of Central Asian history and spiritual heritage.
