Rare documents reveal the legacy of Yakutia’s first president in new exhibition
An exhibition honouring Mikhail Nikolayev, the first president of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), has opened at Government House No. 1. Titled 'An Era in Documents', it coincides with the establishment of his personal archival collection at the National Archives of Yakutia.
The exhibition, which will move to the National Archives Library after its current run, features rare documents, personal belongings, and handwritten materials from Nikolayev's time as a central figure in Yakutia's history. It showcases key milestones, including his role in shaping the new statehood, cultural policies, international initiatives, and Arctic cooperation.
The archival collection, consisting of 106 items, was initiated by an unknown individual and consists of materials donated by his family. Digital copies are available at the Nikolayev Center. The exhibition will remain on display at the National Archives Library through the end of December.
The exhibition 'An Era in Documents' provides a unique insight into the life and career of Mikhail Nikolayev. After its run at Government House No. 1, it will continue at the National Archives Library, allowing the public to explore the significant contributions of this influential figure in Yakutia's history.
