Rare Earths Rush Outshines Gold as Clean Energy Demand Skyrockets

The rare earths market is abuzz with excitement, with experts predicting a boom that could surpass previous resource rushes. Kevin Dash of New Frontier Minerals expects the next few years to be lucrative, while Tony Sage of Critical Metals describes the current situation as a 'rare earths frenzy'. The global race for rare earth metals is driven by both structural and political factors, according to Gernot Wagner of Columbia University. The clean energy transition has increased demand, while China's dominance and strategic use of its resources have also played a significant role. Tony Sage believes this rare earths rush will outstrip the gold and oil booms in both scale and significance. Stock prices reflect the enthusiasm, with Critical Metals' shares surging by 241% in the past three months. Other mining companies like NioCorp Developments, Energy Fuels, and Idaho Strategic Resources have also seen substantial gains. MP Materials, USA Rare Earth, and Lynas Rare Earths have improved significantly, with all three companies expecting strong growth and increased demand by 2025. Audun Martinsen of Rystad Energy, however, sees this as the early stages of structural change rather than a full-blown fourth gold rush. The rare earths market is heating up, with experts predicting a boom that could reshape the industry. While some see it as a new gold rush, others view it as the early stages of a significant structural change. Either way, mining companies are benefiting, with stock prices soaring and expectations for future growth running high.
