Rare overnight burglary strikes Salzgitter clothing store
A clothing store in Salzgitter's Lebenstedt district was broken into overnight between Monday and Tuesday. Thieves stole several items, causing damage estimated in the low three-digit euro range. The burglars entered the shop through a window on Chemnitzer Straße. They took clothing before leaving the scene. Police confirmed the break-in but did not report any injuries or additional incidents.
Last year, Salzgitter saw no publicly reported burglaries in clothing stores. While isolated shoplifting cases occurred, there was no pattern of similar break-ins in the area.
The incident marks a rare case of its kind in the city. Authorities are investigating the burglary, though no arrests have been made so far. The store owner now faces repairs and losses from the stolen goods.
