RB 25 line faces five-month closure for major track upgrades
Major construction work will disrupt train services on the RB 25 line from late March to early August. The project, running from March 27 to August 7, will force cancellations between Cologne Hansaring and Gummersbach-Dieringhausen. Passengers will instead rely on replacement buses for part of their journey.
During the construction period, all trains on the RB 25 route will be suspended between Cologne Hansaring and Gummersbach-Dieringhausen. Instead, a replacement bus service—labelled SEV RB 25—will operate twice per hour between Köln Messe/Deutz and Gummersbach. This change aims to keep passengers moving while tracks are upgraded.
Trains will still run hourly between Gummersbach-Dieringhausen and Lüdenscheid, ensuring some rail connections remain intact. The work is scheduled to last nearly five months, with services expected to return to normal by August 7.
The temporary bus service will cover the gap left by the cancelled trains. Passengers travelling between Cologne and Gummersbach must plan for longer journeys until the line reopens. Full train operations on the RB 25 will resume once construction is complete.
