Reformed Parish Torn by Trust, Money, and Leadership Disputes
Tensions have flared again in the Reformed parish of Illnau-Effretikon. A recent meeting exposed deep divisions over trust, money, and leadership qualities. The dispute centres on a sold property, financial control, and a failed contract amendment.
The conflict traces back to the sale of a house on Glarnischstrasse. The parish had retained a right to a share of any future resale profit. Simone Schädler, an EPP member of the city parliament, rejected a proposal from the buyer’s brother to settle the claim for 50,000 francs. She called the offer unacceptable.
The rejected contract and unresolved property dispute highlight ongoing unrest. Financial authority and leadership trust remain key issues. New council members in 2026 will inherit a parish still divided over its future direction.
