Regensburg District Opens Nominations for 2026 Cultural Prizes and Awards

The Regensburg District is preparing to award its Cultural Prize for the 17th time in 2026. Nominations are now open for individuals and groups whose work in culture, the arts, or academia stands out. Three separate honours will be given: the main Cultural Prize, a Youth Cultural Prize, and a Lifetime Achievement Award. The Cultural Prize celebrates outstanding contributions across all cultural fields. It includes a €5,000 cash award for the main winner. A Youth Cultural Prize of €1,000 will also be presented to young people and young adults up to 25 years old. Additionally, a Lifetime Achievement Award, though non-monetary, will recognise long-term dedication to culture.

An independent committee will review all submissions. Nominations must be sent by April 20, 2026, either by post or email to the Cultural Affairs Office of the Regensburg District Administration. Last year's winners included Dr. Frieder Roßkopf, who received the main Cultural Prize. The Nittendorf Kolibri Children's Choir was awarded the Youth Cultural Prize, while Peter Liebl was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards highlight the district's commitment to cultural and civic engagement. Winners will be announced after the committee's evaluation. Further details on submissions can be obtained from the Cultural Affairs Office.
