Regensburg Needs 2,500 Volunteers for 2026 Municipal Election
The city of Regensburg is gearing up for the upcoming municipal election in spring 2026 and is calling for volunteers to assist in the voting process. Around 2,500 helpers are needed to manage 122 polling stations and 100 postal voting districts. Volunteers will receive training and a refreshment allowance of between 50 and 70 euros, depending on their role.
Individuals or teams of up to 10 people can sign up together. Interested citizens can contact the election office by phone at 507-5555 or by email at wahl@our website. The election office, located at the Jahn Stadium in Regensburg, will organize and train volunteers. Those who sign up will oversee voting, check, count, and electronically record ballots using a barcode system. To be eligible, volunteers must be German or EU citizens, of legal age, and have lived in Regensburg for at least two months.
Volunteers will receive training beforehand, either in person or online. The city is also offering incentives, raffling off a total of 7,250 euros in prizes among all volunteers, with top prizes of 1,000, 750, and 500 euros.
The city of Regensburg encourages eligible citizens to volunteer and contribute to a smooth and successful municipal election. By doing so, volunteers will not only support democracy but also stand a chance to win exciting prizes.
