Regensburg's 'Hildegard's Ice Bee' Brings Joy to Seniors This Summer
Regensburg's Mayor Gertrude Maltz-Schwarzfischer recently unveiled an innovative project, 'Hildegard's Ice Bee', at the Armin-Wolf-Arena. This intergenerational initiative, uniting local sports, gastronomy, and social facilities, will bring joy to the city's nursing and care homes this summer.
The project, named after former mayor Hildegard Anke, uses a distinctive red 'Ape' vehicle, donated by Angelic Organics. The vibrant color was chosen to evoke positivity and stimulate memories in seniors and those with dementia. The Ice Gallery Regensburg is generously providing free homemade ice cream for every visit.
Support for the project comes from various sources. Malteser Regensburg and local sports clubs, including the Guggenberger Legionnaires and Regensburg Phoenix, have lent their backing. The action 'Hildegard Anke' donated the vehicle, with the 'Ape' name reflecting its Italian origins and the project's buzzing energy.
Throughout the summer, 'Hildegard's Ice Bee' will visit nursing and care homes in Regensburg, offering residents a sweet treat. This intergenerational project aims to bring communities together, fostering connections and spreading happiness one scoop at a time.
