Renolit’s Wind Farm in Worms Faces Setback but Pushes Forward
Renolit's plans for a wind farm in Worms hit a snag as the city council voted against the proposed project. The company, however, remains committed to its climate goals and is exploring new options.
Torsten Maschke, a member of Renolit's executive board, acknowledged the company's willingness to compromise during the planning process. Despite this, the Worms city council approved an amendment for a single turbine east of the A61 and an additional site south of Worms' Wiesoppenheim district, which Renolit criticized as neither sensible nor economically viable.
The council's decision prevented the project from proceeding as originally planned on the designated site. However, Renolit is not deterred. It is now collaborating with the new project developer PIONEXT, which has secured more land for flexible planning. The joint project aims to contribute to the green transformation of Renolit's headquarters and will be discussed in a public city council meeting in November 2025.
Renolit's wind farm project in Worms faces challenges but remains alive. The company, along with its new partner PIONEXT, is working on a revised plan. The project's future will be decided in a city council meeting later this year.
