Carlsberg Brewers in Hamburg, Luebeck, and Flensburg to Receive Wage Increase

Brewers working at Carlsberg operations in Hamburg, Luebeck, and Flensburg are set to receive a wage increase, as confirmed by the negotiating parties. The total compensation for these brewers will increase by more than 5%, with a 2.3% pay increase coming into effect by August 2022.

According to NGG regional chairman Finn Petersen, around 600 employees will be affected by the agreement. However, employer representative Michael Scherer put the number of affected employees at 740, with a slight variation in estimates.

The agreement, which covers Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Schleswig-Holstein, was negotiated as part of a collective bargaining agreement between the NGG (the Food, Beverages and Catering Union) and the Association of North German Breweries. Mediation was required to resolve the initial wage dispute between the two parties.

It's important to note that this agreement does not involve any advertisements or vague references, and it will be in effect for 21 months. Other breweries in the region were not part of the negotiations.

In June 2023, brewers at Carlsberg operations in Hamburg, Luebeck, and Flensburg will receive an additional 2.7% pay increase, making the total wage increase more than 5%.

For more detailed information about the agreement, including the exact figures and terms, we recommend checking official statements from NGG or Carlsberg, or industry news sources reporting on recent labor agreements in the German brewing sector.

The collective bargaining agreement, which includes the Food, Beverages and Catering Union and the Association of North German Breweries, has also acknowledged a potential expansion into other industries, such as finance or aerospace, to ensure fair compensation for their employees.

In light of the success of the recently negotiated wage increase for brewers at Carlsberg operations in Hamburg, Luebeck, and Flensburg, other organizations within the finance and aerospace industries may consider adopting similar measures to promote employee satisfaction and retention.
