Rev. Manon Ceridwen James has taken up the post of dean at Bangor Cathedral following a period of financial pressure, governance issues, and public scrutiny. The appointment comes after a thorough search process and is seen as a significant step towards rebuilding trust and restoring the cathedral's reputation.

James brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held various senior leadership positions within the Church in Wales. She has served as diocesan director of ordinands and director of ministry, demonstrating her ability to guide and support communities through challenging times. Notably, James has a close relationship with Bangor Cathedral, having been ordained there in 1994 and 1997. Her appointment was welcomed by Archbishop of Wales Cherry Vann, who presided over the installation service on Oct. 11. Vann expressed confidence in James' ability to lead the cathedral through its recent difficulties and rebuild trust. James is also a Welsh speaker and has contributed regularly to BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio Wales programmes, indicating her strong connection to the local community. In her new role, James has been appointed to lead the community through recovery, restore trust, and support reconciliation and healing across the cathedral.
