Rheinberg swears in new mayor and reshaped city council
Rheinberg has welcomed a new full-time mayor, Philipp Richter, who was inaugurated in a recent council meeting. The event also saw the confirmation of four district representatives and the election of deputy mayors. A total of 30 council members, including 22 newcomers, took their oaths.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Jürgen Bartsch, the longest-serving council member. He oversaw the swearing-in of the new mayor and the 30 council members, among whom were 22 freshly elected representatives.
The new mayor, Philipp Richter, acknowledged the city's significant challenges but expressed optimism about the future. He was joined by Dirk Kerlen (CDU) as first deputy mayor and Dr. Kenneth Simon (Alliance 90/The Greens) as second deputy mayor. The council also appointed members to various committees and delegated representatives to external bodies.
With the inauguration of Philipp Richter as mayor and the appointment of deputy mayors and council members, Rheinberg looks forward to addressing its challenges and shaping its future. The city's leadership is now set, with a mix of experienced and newly elected representatives.
