Rheinische Post Names Private Equity Founder as New Supervisory Board Chief
The Rheinische Post media group has a new chairman at the helm of its supervisory board. Dr. Krischan von Moeller, a 61-year-old private equity founder, took over the role in late August 2025. His appointment follows the departure of Friedrich Joussen, who stepped down after years of leading the group's oversight.
Friedrich Joussen left his positions at Rheinische Post on 31 August 2025. The former TUI and Vodafone CEO cited other professional commitments and personal plans as reasons for his exit. His departure marked the end of a long tenure as both chairman of the supervisory board and head of the shareholders' meeting.
The shareholders' meeting swiftly appointed Dr. Krischan von Moeller as his successor. In a unanimous vote, they also elected him chairman of the supervisory board. No changes to the group's strategic direction or existing investments have been announced since his election.
Von Moeller brings decades of experience to the role. After studying industrial engineering at TU Darmstadt, he earned a doctorate at Harvard University. His career began at the Boston Consulting Group, where he worked from 1993 to 1999. Later, he moved into corporate development at the Holtzbrinck Group before founding Paragon Partners, his private equity firm, in 2004.
He now joins a board that includes Florian Merz-Betz, Martin Ebel, Felix Droste, Oliver Girardet, Rainer Beaujean, and Martin Hüttermann. Together, they oversee the operations of one of Germany's prominent media groups.
Von Moeller's leadership begins with no immediate shifts in strategy or investment plans. The new chairman takes charge of a well-established board, stepping into a role previously held by a high-profile corporate figure. His background in consulting, private equity, and corporate development will shape his approach to the position.
