Heil and Steiniger Re-elected to CDU Federal Board - Rhineland-Palatinate lawmakers re-elected to CDU's federal leadership with overwhelming support
Mechthild Heil and Johannes Steiniger will remain part of the CDU's federal executive board, a move that the party's Rhineland-Palatinate branch sees as a strong representation at the national level.
The two CDU lawmakers from Rhineland-Palatinate, Mechthild Heil and Johannes Steiniger, have been re-elected to the federal executive board of Germany's Christian Democratic Union (CDU). At the party conference in Stuttgart, Steiniger—who serves as the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate's secretary-general—received 82.7 percent of the vote, according to a statement from the state branch. Heil was confirmed in her position with 82.2 percent support.
"The result ensures that both will continue to bring Rhineland-Palatinate's perspective to the federal executive," the party stated. It added that the outcome further underscores the strong influence of the CDU's Rhineland-Palatinate branch at the national level.
