Rhineland-Palatinate purchases two H145 helicopters for their law enforcement unit
The Rhineland-Palatinate police force is set to receive two cutting-edge Airbus H145 helicopters, scheduled for delivery in Q1 2024. These helicopters will be operated by the police helicopters squadron in Winningen, replacing the state's current H135 fleet.
Manufactured by Airbus Helicopters, the H145 has more than 200 helicopters deployed for public services and law enforcement missions worldwide. The Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Germany, Wolfgang Schoder, expressed gratitude towards the Rhineland-Palatinate government for their support.
The new H145 helicopters will be outfitted with highly sophisticated equipment to enhance the mission capabilities of the police force. Key features include a five-bladed rotor system, a bearingless main rotor design, advanced avionics with the Helionix suite, twin Safran Arriel 2E engines with full authority digital engine control (FADEC), and a low noise and emissions profile.
The five-bladed rotor system increases the useful load capacity by 150 kilograms, allowing for more equipment or personnel to be carried during operations. This rotor system also enhances ride comfort for crew and passengers. The bearingless main rotor design reduces maintenance complexity and improves reliability, contributing to higher operational availability and smoother missions.
Advanced avionics with the Helionix suite provide a four-axis autopilot that significantly reduces pilot workload, enhancing mission safety and effectiveness in complex law enforcement scenarios. Twin Safran Arriel 2E engines with full authority digital engine control offer improved engine performance, efficiency, and safety.
The low noise and emissions profile make it one of the quietest and most environmentally friendly helicopters in its class, which is beneficial for discreet law enforcement operations. The H145 is also proven to be versatile and multi-role functional, supporting a wide array of public safety and law enforcement missions, including emergency response and medical evacuation.
These features combined give the Airbus H145 a substantial operational advantage in law enforcement contexts by improving payload capacity, reliability, pilot assistance, and environmental compatibility, thus enhancing overall mission effectiveness.
The latest upgrade of the H145 was unveiled at Heli-Expo 2019 in Atlanta, showcasing the continuous innovation in Airbus' light twin-engine helicopter technology. The Ministry of Interior of Rhineland-Palatinate has ordered these two helicopters, marking a significant step forward in modernising the state's law enforcement capabilities.
The Ministry of Interior of Rhineland-Palatinate has ordered not only Airbus H145 helicopters but also invested in advanced technology, finance, and aerospace gadgets to modernize their law enforcement capabilities. The H145 helicopter, with its sophisticated equipment, is a prime example of technology integration in the industry, offering features such as a low noise and emissions profile, advanced avionics, and twin Safran Arriel 2E engines, making it ideal for finance-oriented missions like discreet law enforcement operations.
