RJD slams Lalan Singh for ‘state-sponsored intimidation’ ahead of Bihar polls
RJD has strongly condemned Union Minister Lalan Singh's recent remark, accusing him of inciting supporters to disrupt opposition voters from casting their ballots in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The party has labelled his comment as 'state-sponsored intimidation', questioning Prime Minister Modi's silence on the matter.
The controversy began during a Mokama assembly by-election roadshow, leading to a case being registered against Lalan Singh. The Election Commission has since issued a notice to him, seeking an explanation for his remark. RJD's spokesperson, Priyanka Bharti, has criticized Singh's comment, stating that it undermines the democratic process.
In a video released by RJD, the party symbolically depicted a bulldozer running over Election Commission guards, protesting Singh's disregard for the EC's request regarding his controversial comment on election day. Mokama will vote in the first phase on November 6, with Janata Dal (United) fielding Anant Singh and RJD putting forth Veena Devi as their candidate. Voting for Bihar's 243-seat Assembly will take place in two phases, on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
Lalan Singh's remark has sparked controversy ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly elections. The Election Commission's intervention and RJD's strong condemnation highlight the seriousness of the issue. The upcoming polls will test the political climate's resilience against such provocative statements.
