Rödermark’s Bahnstraße embraces permanent one-way traffic after urban experiment
The upper Bahnstraße in Rödermark has undergone permanent changes after a two-year urban experiment. The city council voted in December 2023 to keep the one-way traffic system in place. New measures, including improved cycling routes and safety features, have now been completed.
The urban experiment, funded by the city in 2022 and 2023, tested new traffic rules on the shopping street. While not all planned changes were finished due to ongoing construction and demolitions, key improvements have been made. Cyclists can now ride against the flow of car traffic along the entire one-way stretch, and a redesigned entry point from Lutherplatz makes access clearer.
The permanent one-way system and cycling improvements are now in effect. The city will continue developing the area based on feedback from the experiment. Further long-term redesigns for Bahnstraße are expected to follow.
