Rogers Abbotsford Technicians End 4.5-Month Strike, Ratify New 5-Year Deal
Rogers technicians in Abbotsford, B.C., have voted to end a four-and-a-half-month strike, ratifying a new five-year collective agreement. The Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) praised the workers' determination and called for Rogers to improve its labour relations news.
The new agreement includes significant improvements for the technicians. Key enhancements include enhanced automation protection, expanded work jurisdiction, a new annual boot allowance, access to the Rogers Employee Share Accumulation Plan, and an additional paid holiday. The primary demand of the technicians, equal pay for equal work, has been met. The pay gap between Abbotsford and other Rogers technicians will be reduced from 9.2% to 3.1% by April 2027. The agreement also includes a 16% increase in general wages over the five-year period.
The strike, which began in April 2025, will officially end on Oct. 31, 2025. The new collective agreement brings substantial benefits to the Rogers technicians in Abbotsford, addressing their key concerns and improving their working conditions.
