Romy Berger Appointed as New Head of Trier Police Directorate
Romy Berger has been appointed as the new head of the Trier Police Directorate. She will take over from Police Director Thomas Wimmer, who has moved to the Koblenz Police Headquarters. Berger's inauguration took place on October 8, 2025, by Police President Anja Rakowski.
Berger's career spans over two decades in the police force. She began as a recruit in 1998 and has since held various roles, including acting duty officer and lecturer at the Police University. Most recently, she led the Wittlich Police Inspectorate from July 2023.
The Trier Police Directorate is a significant organizational unit, covering around 2,300 square kilometers and serving approximately 350,000 people. It is one of three major units within the Trier Police Headquarters.
Romy Berger's appointment as the new head of the Trier Police Directorate brings a wealth of experience to the role. She takes over from Thomas Wimmer, who led the unit for nearly three years. Berger's leadership will be crucial in maintaining and enhancing the services provided by the Trier Police Directorate.
