Rostock breaks ground on modernized Fire Station 1 expansion

Today marks the start of a significant milestone in Rostock's fire protection with the groundbreaking ceremony for the next phases of Fire Station 1. The event, attended by Interior Minister Christian Pegel, Mayor Eva-Maria Kroger, and KOE Rostock representatives, signifies the modernization of the city's fire protection infrastructure.

Fire Station 1's overall project comprises four construction phases. Phase 1, now completed, has laid the foundation for the expansion. Phases 2 and 3, which begin today, will create the South Central Rescue Station and new buildings for the volunteer fire department and disaster control. This expansion aims to strengthen the fire department's long-term operational capability and ensure modern security for Rostock's population.

A symbolic time capsule was buried during the ceremony to commemorate this modernization. The event underscores the city's commitment to enhancing its fire protection services.
